2017 Goldman Environmental Prize Winner
Prafulla is an environmental and human rights activist, working to protect democratic rights and preserve natural resources like forests, rivers, and water sources. He has taken up key environmental issues such as Niyamgiri to the Central Empower Committee of the Supreme Court and POSCO to the National Green Tribunal. Prafulla is currently campaigning to protect agriculture land and to support sustainable development.
Prafulla also edits a fortnightly journal named Manishara Bartabaha ‘Swabhiman’, is a well-known columnist in Odiya daily newspapers, and has published multiple books and poems. He received the Goldman Environmental Prize (known as the Green Nobel Prize) in 2017.
